Why is this so important to me? My ART journey with
Dick Butkus began in 1969 when his image inspired me to become the top Artist in my High School. I created and sold Charcoal Drawings of Butkus to teachers and friends. I loved Art, I loved Football, and I loved the image of Dick Butkus. But then, due to family pressures, I quit. I quit everything – I put down my pencil and paintbrush and went to work.
I DIDN’T PICK IT UP FOR 35 YEARS.
I saw an old picture of Dick Butkus, and I became so inspired that for the 2 nd time in my life I picked up the paint brush. I painted Dick Butkus Portraits NON-STOP FOR TWO YEARS. Then setout to meet my boyhood hero, and it inspired me to write a story.
FINDING YOUR BUTKUS won an EMMY AWARD IN 2008. Canada’s Sports Artist was born as I did multiple ART SHOWS – including art at the SuperBowl, Football HOF and others.
I lived the DREAM I HAD IMAGINED as a teenager.
Dick Butkus died.
It affected me and while it was not my intent, I simutaneously PUT DOWN THE PAINT BRUSH once again. I didn’t know if I would ever paint again. UNTIL TODAY. At age 69, I have found myself inspired once again by the INCREDIBLE IMAGE of DICK BUTKUS. To that I end I will create one more piece, a memorial, a final farewell to the greatest MLB in NFL History.
The painting, the reseach and effort begins now.
The release is expected in the spring of 2026.
