First off mission accomplished. Great job documenting the schools history, highs, lows and everything in between. A great read for anyone interested. It’s the unvarnished truth which I admire. No BS. Tell ugly stories as they are. Makes it credible and enjoyable to read. – Erik Magraken Hillside Dojo
I completely recommend reading this book for any and all members of Canada’s Best Karate family. Was really great to learn about the history of the Dojo I cherish.

It’s an inspirational story of the many roads that a person can travel over the course of one’s life. There may be ups and downs but a person can find happiness and success by staying true to themselves and their beliefs. Bob knows and shows that hard work and confidence has allowed him to prevail in whatever he decides to do. The book is an interesting read of his travels.

Bob Mueller taught all my children karate after we first arrived on this island in 1989. All three children have children who continue to practise karate. Now reading his book, which has half a century of karate history in North America in its pages, I am reminded of how lucky we were to meet him!

Originally I scheduled to attend class on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. However, and I am not just saying this but reading a bit of Sensei Mueller’s book was really inspiring and it helped me realized I need to put more effort and time into karate. Therefore, I was hoping along with my current days, I could also add Monday and Thursday? Thanks 🙂 Kindest regards

You comment several times how the school is open to progress and in fact does progress. This always impressed me. The school has tradition and a curriculum but is not tied to rigid old-fashioned ways because of tradition for tradition’s sake. Important to embrace change. Reminds me of the Darwinian truth that the most successful species are not the biggest, strongest or fastest. Its those that adapt to the change best. For whatever its worth those are my 2 cents. Great read and great job!
